OTAVALO
Belongs to the province of Imbabura, situated
in the West Range of the Andes at 4560 m. of height and it is a valuable
turistic resort for its traditional handicraftmarket, which is every saturday,
it offers peculiar wool materials, embroidery and a variety of ceramics
with exquisite colour.
PROVINCE OF CAÑAR
Its capital Azoguez, it is known as the South
Worker. On saturdays and sundays they do fairs, there are plenty
of straw hats, ceramics of many types and materials.
PROVINCE OF AZUAY
Its capital Cuenca, from remote times, it
was the Cradle of great, intelectual and famous men of science and art,
for all that, it is called the Athens of Ecuador. The handicraft
is one of the main sources of incomes.
PROVINCE OF MANABI
It has approximately
350 km. of coast and emphasizes in its wood industries, chemical substances,
paper, ceramic and handicraft industries.In its canton Montecristi, a great
handicraft centre of toquilla straw, baskets made of wicker and also they
make a great variety and quantity of furniture in quality woods and it
is a coffee producer of an exquisite taste.
Just the same occurs in Jipijapa in the canton
Pila, famous for the ingenious creativity of its craftsmen, who make replicas
of Precolombia ceramics and others of mischievous kind.
